Charles Taze Russell the founder of the Watchtower said in the September 15, 1910, Watchtower on page 298 that, "If the six volumes of Scripture Studies (which he wrote) are the Bible topically arranged with Bible proof texts given, we might not improperly name the volumes - the Bible in an arranged form ...If a person lays them aside and ignores them and goes to the Bible alone, though he has understood the Bible for ten years, our experience shows that within two years he goes into darkness." If Russell was correct, then one might possibly conclude that if a person reads ONLY THE BIBLE, they would not become a member of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society - one of Jehovah's Witnesses?
The "Prophet"
The Watchtower Says...
In this April 1, 1972, Watchtower it asks, "Does Jehovah have a prophet to help them, to warn them of dangers and to declare things to come?The question can be answered in the "affirmative".
Then it asks, who is this prophet and the answer is "Jehovah's Witnesses".
In the next to the last paragraph they go on to say, "Of course it is easy to say that this group acts as a "prophet" of God. It is another thing to prove it. The only way this can be done is to review the record. What does it show?

Let's do exactly what the writers of the literature suggest, let's REVIEW THE WTB&TS'S RECORD. What does it show?
In this July 1,1979 Watchtower THEY say, "In the second issue of the Watch Tower, we expressed our confidence it has Jehovah for its backer." ...Yet for the spiritual aid that this journal has furnished, THE PUBLISHERS DO NOT TAKE CREDIT. "
***Those who believe that God uses the Watchtower as a means of communicating to his people, or of calling their attention to his prophecies, should study the Watchtower with thankfulness of heart and give Jehovah God and Christ Jesus all the honor and credit and give neither honor or credit to any man.” Watchtower, January 1, 1942, page 5.
Note- the WTB&TS says ...God (Jehovah) uses the Watchtower as a means of communication too his people...and should give Jehovah God and Christ Jesus all the honor and credit and give neither honor or credit to any man."
Who is to be given credit for what is written in the Watchtower? Jehovah and Christ Jesus?
in this January 15, 1959 Watchtower they say, "Jehovah's witnesses are deeply greatful today that the plain facts show that God has been pleased to use them.....It has been because Jehovah thrust out his hand of power and touched their lips and put his words in their mouths."
Notice, "Jehovah put His words in their mouths".
In the December 15, 1982 Watchtower, the WTB&TS says, that since 1914 the anointed remnant that was pictured by the apostle John...they have seen the Equivalent of that angel flying in midheaven,
IMPORTANT NOTE
The Watchtower claims that those who are responsible for "feeding the flock", the words that end up being written in the publications, those words are as a result of "Jehovah putting His word in their mouths and being directed by Jehovah's angels".
In the September 15, 1964 Watchtower page 574 the WTB&TS says to its millions of members, that one brother and his wife (ma) , before taking off the magazine wrapper, they kneel down and ask Jehovah God to make them worthy of reading the message Jehovah has for them.
As one can see from these few documents, the average member, like my mother until she died, believed that Jehovah God, the one true God, Yahweh, used the Watchtower publications to communicate to his people on earth.
According to the WB&TS:
"The year 1914, therefore marks the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of glory." Watchtower December 1, 1933, p. 362
Did Jesus Christ come (2nd Coming) in 1914? They still say he did...only invisibly.

No credit is given to the magazine publishers, credit "is due to the great author of the Bible with its truths and prophecies, and who now interprets its prophesies...He it is that makes possible the material that is published in the columns of this magazine." Watchtower, April 15, 1943, pg. 127
We should believe all things the Watchtower says since it has taught the truth since its inception.
