According to the Watchtower (JW.org) after creating the fear of dying, they go on to point out Phil. 2:12 and Luke 13:23,24 to show working hard is necessary to earn salvation
Exercise of Faith - #2
"Faith based on Bible knowledge cannot be distinguished unless it produces results..." Our comment is, you will show you are saved by the good works you do...you do good works not to get saved but because you have been saved. We do believe that "actions speak louder than words" and the actions will be a result of our personal relationship and becoming more like Christ.
A New Personality - #4
You must put away the old personality...Only with the help and encouragement of good Christian associates will you be able to adopt the Bible's counsel on how to go about 'putting on the new personality'. How vital, then, for each one who wants eternal life to clean up his life'...
Bible Study Vital - #1
Taking in knowledge is the first essential...they quote John 17:3 as "This means everlasting life, their TAKING IN KNOWLEDGE, of you the only true God..." The first step is studying the Bible. However, they study their Watchtower prepared literature and use Bible scriptures to substantiate their statements in the literature. Other accepted Bible translations say, "...that they may know you the only true God..." Knowing a person (God), having a very personal relationship with Him is much different than taking in knowledge of a person (God).
Right Association -#3
Certainly, one would not want to keep comany with wicked persons, ridiculers of God and his Word. Association with the congregation of Christians who recognize that God is pleased with worship that is offered "with spirit and truth, is vital to your salvation.
The Preaching Requirement - #5
Participation in preaching and teaching God's Word is vitally related to your salvation...He has organized his congregation of witnesses for this very purpose. To help new ones in making a public declaration of their faith.
The Steps of Dedication - #6
After you have studied the Bible diligently and applied its principles toward making a great change in your life, and after you have been meeting and studying regularly with others of the same faith, and after you have tasted and appreciated the privileges of the preaching and teaching work, your faith should lead you to take another important step necessary to your salvation....You offer yourself for baptism.
Endure For The Reward - #7
And finally, there will be the opportunity to withstand the final test of integrity after the close of the thousand-year reign (of Christ) and, if faithful, you will receive salvation, yes, everlasting life as God's gift through Christ! - Rev. 20:5,7,8
Our comment: If a person passes the first test, they survive Jehovah's day of wrath Armageddon, then Christ reigns for 1,000 years. At the end of the 1,000-year reign, satan will be let loose for a short time, then a person goes through a final test and if they pass that test, THEN THEY ARE GIVEN ETERNAL LIFE.
